Portamento

I’ve been a big fan of The Drums, ever since I saw them support Florence and the Machine a few years ago, their debut album ‘The Drums’ was also brilliant and was definitely my album of the summer that year…

Now their second album ‘Portamento’ has just been released and well – it’s just as good!

It’s not often I’d say I want “more of the same” from a bands next album release, normally it feels like a cop out, or a band is stuck in a rut, but if anything The Drums should stick to what they do, if they went and did an R&B song or an 8 minute instrumental it would be, well – weird.

The Drums are all about catchy tunes and sunny days and though the new album is darker lyrically, the songs still please the ears with fun bass lines and the odd ooh’s and ah’s throughout.

Definitely worth checking out – and I’m loving the album cover!
